hi i am currently study Diploma in Youth development and on ma final year. I choose this course bcoz i tot it can create a channel to employment in our country but it seems i was wrong as i see less chances created by the government or Ngo’s the only available opportunities are in overseas.this dissapoints me as result i am just pushing my self to finish this diploma and look foward to start something else BaPAF(bachelor of arts in public administration communication and facilitation). My question is why Unisa is still offering a course that realy dont work/recognised much by the employers in our country? There is no way that the Unisa can atleast create some opportunities ,may be practicals for youth workers?…seriously i am confused although i am passing with flyng colors but i dnt see my self getting a job after, plz help /motivate if you know better.

Hi,I’m puzzled…..please assist me Urgently…..I registered before for BCompt degree but swaped to Bcom(Business Management)……and now I realise I shouldn’t have becuase I still want to do the BCompt degree….problem is I’m busy with modules under the BCom(Business Management) degree and I think it”s too late to swap back to BCompt……I’m thinking of starting with a diploma in Accouting Sciences…..will that be wise? I don’t want to start something that will be to much for me to handle and @ the same time….I really do want to do the accounting course……Please advise…..

    1. senzi

too much swaping , u must make up your mind , a Bcompt requires more work compared to a diploma in accounting sciences it depeneds on which career path you would like to take , if you would like to be a CA(SA) then a BCOMPT will be the best option , but if you would like to be a Chartered cost management accountant then you can do the Diploma in Accounting sciences and also reg with CIMA.decide what you want , the problem with students is that you choose a course according to what people say pays the most , Do what you love and have a passion for !!!!

    1. Castillo

I was a lecturer in electromechanical engineering and is working towards my gcc. I would suggest that u register for N2 and N3 at a FET college and then Unisa,so that u can get a technical background. From there u will find the work and workload easier to handle and understand

i am current studying basic business finance in short programme. i have B.Ed in business eduaction(Accounting option) in Nigeria equivalent to Bachelor in commerce of education. i want to be a charterred accountant(CA), which programmes i need to do before qualifying for CA. do i need to be CTA before becoming CA or CA before CTA.

should i registered for postgraducated diploma in accounting science then after for Honours degree in accounting science or which order should i follow to achieve my CA.

    looking for your reply.

    1. unisacareers Post author

The normal route towards becoming a CA(SA) is the BCompt (Bachelor of Accounting Science) followed by the Honours BCompt. If you pass the Honours BCompt with specific requirements, you obtain the CTA which enables you to go and write the first part of the qualifying examination with the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). SAICA developed a diagram that visually explains the process of becoming a CA. You can view it on their website at https://www.saica.co.za/Portals/0/LearnersStudents/documents/Diag_CareerInAccounting.pdf. You can apply to study at Unisa (if you do not already have a student number) up to 30 September for 2011. Read more about the application process at http://www.unisa.ac.za/Default.asp?Cmd=ViewContent&ContentID=23989. Your previous qualifications will be evaluated during this process. The admission requirements for the PGDA and the BCompt Honours degree is available at http://www.unisa.ac.za/Default.asp?Cmd=ViewContent&ContentID=1087.
